Who is Suave?
About Me
My name is Suave the Performer and I began rapping when I was fifteen years old. I have always been creatively inclined, but I hadn't really listened to rap until I found out that my half-sister was a relative of Tech N9ne (through a marriage on her side of the family). I began listening to some of his music and stumbled upon a single titled "Am I a Psycho? (Feat. Hopsin and B.O.B)." When I heard Hopsin's verse on the track, I thought, "Wow, this guy is so good," so I went on YouTube and looked up every video this rapper had. Eventually, I made the decision to rap, and with my friend John's help, I made my first song, "Repercussions."
When I first started rapping, I did it out of love for the art. Everyone has their own style of what they like and what they don't like. Some use profanity while others cut it out. I personally don't use profanity because I want to reach a wider audience. If your mother can listen to my music in the car with you then I believe I'm on the right track. Some people assume that because I don't curse that I won't allow other artists to do so. This assumption would be inaccurate, because I believe in freedom of expression, especially when it comes to creativity. Just because my personal style doesn't reflect the other styles doesn't mean that I won't allow other artists to express themselves freely. Over time, I began to expand on my knowledge on rap. I began doing extensive research on the very first rappers and how rap has changed over time. I looked up rappers like Rakim, Slick Rick, The Sugarhill Gang, and many more in order to understand the basis of Hip-Hop and Rap. Once I understood the basics, I had even more energy and knowledge to put into my debut project, "Book 1: The Beginning." Two projects later, I am doing more than I have ever imagined as an independent artist in the industry. |
High School
|
My high school, Chinquapin Preparatory, is a private school for low-income students. Chinquapin was founded back in 1969 by Robert Moore. Our motto is Quid Pro Quo: Something for something. We believe in giving back to our community. Every student, once they get into the eleventh grade, has to pick a subject that they are passionate about. They then choose to use that passion to give back to their community. I chose to record my second project called The Pin.

After high school, I decided to pack my bags and move to Austin, the live music capital of the world, in order to pursue a degree in marketing. I decided to go to St. Edward's University because it reminds me of my high school. In Austin, I hope to network and create a platform for myself to be heard by the world.
